Fixing cars and putting them through their MOTs are all in a day’s work for the team at Shetland MOT and Repair (SMR), but now they are also using their mechanical skills to raise money for the MRI Scanner Appeal.

As part of ongoing efforts to raise the £1.65 million needed for an MRI Scanner based in Shetland, Shetland MRI Scanner Appeal have set up an online shop.

A surge in local donations has pushed the MRI Scanner Appeal past the quarter-way mark with the fund now at £418,808.

The families who own the seven Whalsay based pelagic midwater trawlers – Adenia, Antarctic II, Antares, Charisma, Research, Serene and Zephyr – have come together to donate £100,000 to the appeal.
