One of the organisers, Susan Jacobs, said “For the soup and sweet, we prepared great steaming pots of traditional Shetland lentil soup, squash soup, Scotch broth and American Fish chowder which were accompanied by home-made bannocks. For pudding, we offered jelly & ice cream, Flourless chocolate cake with Chantilly cream & raspberry coulis, bread pudding made of hot cross buns with cream or ice cream and sticky toffee pudding with cream or ice cream. Tea and coffee were served with home made cookies and thin mints. We think we served about 150 covers. It is not so easy to count as the pre-school children were free.”
“We had a jar tombola which the children seemed to love, a sales table and raffle. We are very grateful to all the businesses and individuals who provided prizes, and to the Vidlin mums who filled the tombola jars. We are especially grateful to the children who helped on the sales tables & were the best, most charming servers ever…..They were Neve Christie, Blake & Thea Garrick, Ami Grains, Ashley & Joe Hay, Katie Thompson, Murray Todd, Julie Williamson, Joey & Jack Wilson. We thank their parents for loaning them to us & many of their mums who worked like Trojans. It is a privilege to live in a community that cares enough to always put their hard work and money into the causes that are so important to all of us”.
Shetland MRI Scanner Appeal would like to thank everyone who was part of this wonderful community event.
