The beautiful voice of Shaun Simpson has raised £2000 for the MRI Scanner Appeal through sales of his CD “Oldies but Goldies” – and more have been made to meet ongoing demand. He handed over the cheque to MRI Scanner Appeal fundraising manager, Derek Hart recently.
Shetland’s biggest Star Trek fan, Davy Leask, has secured three cards, signed by Hollywood A-lister Brent Spiner – aka Lieutenant Commander Data - to be raffled for the MRI Scanner Appeal.
The party-after-the-party for a highschooler is not a time when charity fundraising is top of mind but, this year, the S5s at the Anderson High School surpassed expectations. Through their Bean Feast after-party, held at Gremista Farm on Friday, December 13, they raised £1000 for the MRI Scanner – money which has been handed over by party organiser and Anderson pupil, Vhairi Graham, 16.
As part of a general tidy up on Fair Isle Bob Worrall coordinated volunteers Fiona Mitchell, Rachel Challoner, Johnnie Downie and Thomas Fisher and collected old car and inverter batteries, which were then sold for scrap. The batteries generated £215.
The MRI Scanner Appeal now has more than £550 000 in the kitty with money still flowing in at a steady rate.
