MRI Patient Features in Island Medics Series 3

Island Medics Series 3 will be broadcast by BBC through the winter with Shetland’s emergency team at the Gilbert Bain Hospital in the limelight once more. For the first time the popular reality show, which focuses on the lives of several NHS Shetland staff, moves out of A&E for some episodes to focus on other parts of the hospital.

In one episode the camera crew spent a day with Hannah Boden, who travelled from her home on Shetland’s west side for an MRI Scan in Aberdeen. Hannah’s story shows the challenges Shetland residents face to access high level medical care on the mainland.

For a 20 minute appointment for an MRI scan Hannah did a round trip of nearly 500 miles that saw her leave home before dawn and return late at night. Hannah’s episode screens for the first time on December 11.

This series captures the beating heart of the NHS on Shetland and will keep viewers coming back for more. To see when it's on, go to the Island Medics broadcast schedule.
